Keith Singer, J.D., CFP®

President

As an attorney and financial professional, Keith Singer helps those in or near retirement with a variety of asset protection, income taxation, wealth distribution and estate-planning issues, including drafting wills, trusts and estate planning documents.

Keith was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and started his first business - selling soft pretzels - at age 11. In 1992, he earned his finance degree from The Pennsylvania State University, where he was a finalist in the AT&T Investment Challenge and started (and sold) a successful house-cleaning business.

As he was growing up, his mother encouraged Keith to become a doctor. Since he exhibited little interest in biology and chemistry, Keith and his mother reached a compromise: He would become a lawyer. Keith earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law and is an active member of The Florida Bar.

Early in his legal career, Keith helped clients with probate disputes. He realized that as an attorney he could only try to fix people's problems, but if he could help them plan properly, he potentially could help them avoid problems altogether. In 1996, he began advising clients on how to grow, preserve and distribute their wealth with tax-efficient strategies. In 2000, he obtained his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards.

Keith has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, U.S. News and World Report, Money Magazine, Business Week, Kiplinger and The New York Times as well as appearing on NBC, ABC, CBS and CNBC.

Keith donates to several local philanthropies, including JAFCO, which is dedicated to serving underprivileged, neglected and disabled children. He and his wife, Mishelle, live in Hollywood, Florida, and Margate, New Jersey, with their four children.

Janyl Smith, J.D., LL.M.

Of Counsel - Estate Planning Specialist

Janyl Smith is an estate planning attorney and private wealth advisor who focuses on wills, trusts and estates. She has more than a decade of experience in financial services, giving her an invaluable knowledge base about the types of assets typically at the center of clients' estate plans.

Janyl's advanced tax specialization and understanding of issues related to wealth transfer tax, tax planning for non-U.S. residents, tax planning for high net worth individuals and other advanced planning areas serves her clients well in their legacy planning endeavors.

She earned her Juris Doctor and her Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Miami School of Law. She earned her Bachelor of Science in legal studies from South University in Savannah, Georgia.

Janyl lives in Hollywood, Florida, with her husband, Marvin, an orthopedic surgeon with the Memorial Healthcare System Division of Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. The Smiths are proud parents to a daughter, Summer.

David Friedland, J.D.

Private Wealth Advisor and Estate Planning Attorney

David Friedland grew up in South Africa and emigrated to the U.S. in 1990 to pursue a degree in finance from the University of Miami and also to play tennis for the University. After graduating with a degree in finance, David obtained his law degree from the University of Miami. After law school, David joined a large multi-national hedge fund firm located in Florida and worked as in-house counsel and held that position for 25 years. During that time, his responsibilities included, among other things, handling of all legal matters related to the investment and compliance of the business. In 2023, David joined Keith Singer, P.A. to assist in the drafting of wills and trusts and other matters relating to estate planning and transfer of wealth for its clients. David is also a Private Wealth Advisor, and his experience in the financial industry for the past 27 years provides him with the knowledge about the types of financial assets at the center of estate planning.

David received a BBA in finance cum laude from the University of Miami in 1993, and a J.D. (law degree) magna cum laude from the University of Miami in 1996. David played tennis for the University and was an Academic All-American each year he played, from 1990-1993. David is a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

When David is not working, he enjoys playing tennis and golf, and is an avid sports fan. David lives in Hollywood, Florida, and is happily married with three children.

Brittany Gomez, M.A., Certified Paralegal

Paralegal and Client Liaison

Brittany was born and raised in Boca Raton. A proud two-time graduate of the University of Central Florida, she earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in political science with a minor in intelligence and national security. Furthering her commitment to the legal field, Brittany completed her training as a Certified Paralegal through NALA, and as a Florida Registered Paralegal through the Florida Bar in 2021.

Outside of her professional life, she cherishes time spent with her family and her beloved dog.
